In Cullman , AL the court is still forcing a mother to pay a financially secure father child support every week for their nine teen year old son. This son has lived with his mother since he was 16 and was badly beaten by his father. If the mother is layed off from her job the father has her put in jail for failure to pay. The child has not seen his father in three year and has received zero money from his father. The mother is also loosing sight in one eye. Well, my ex, probably, never paid but $200.00, the whole time my daughter was growing up, she is 22 now, he thought he would wait till she turned legal age, well she is 22 now, and last income tax in 22 years, he filed , and i got it, it should stay with you what he owes for the rest of his life, sorry ass fathers, there is one thing i can say, I worked my ass off for years and raised my daughter, she thinks of me as father, and mother both, what kinda sorry parent could wake up everyday and wonder if their kid is alive or dead. In Alabama child support ends when the child reaches the age of 19. So like one poster said above call them ahead of time and let them know you are coming up on that time to stop paying or they will just send you the bill like always let's face it it's automatic. So say they don't stop or you didn't call them and you get the bill. Pay it or send them the money then call them. The worst thing you could do is not pay and then be seen to be behind in child support. All kinds of bad things happen when you are behind in your child support. They can take your drivers license attach your tax returns etc. You are much more believable while you are still up to date on payments then after you are far behind. Good Luck.
