Stopping Child Support

My ex-wife and I have decided to go to a split custody for the three children that we share. I currently pay child support but when we start the 50/50 split will need to stop paying child support. How do I legally go about this so that I will not have child support payments stacking up againt me. Is this something that I can do on my own or do I need to hire a lawyer.

Whoever filed for child support is the one that needs to contact the Department of Social Services Division of Child Support so that a new order can take place. This way there is no fees associated with the service, if so, it is only 2% of what you would pay to retain an attorney.

They will advise you if you need to personally go to court to stop to actually stop the payments, being that both of you are agreeing to these new terms (that depends on your state and what their policy and procedures are).

Nice to see that you guys are going down the line with this. Many parents cannot see eye to eye on this matter, which is why they have to go to court and let a non-family judicial system decide for them.
