Once you begin to get back on track with support payments, you can petition the court that issued the suspension to reinstate. You can apply now for reinstatement if you need the license to get to work or finish training but that's up to the court to lift the order of suspension.

You can get it reinstated in several different ways.
1. If you work out a payment plan with them, they may reinstate it.
2. They may also take a lump sum partial payment with a payment plan.
3. Once you pay for six consecutive months, it may be reinstated.
4. You may receive a work restricted license.
5. Pay it off.

You can reach their office at (800) 332-6347. Good luck and best wishes.

I have the same problem, and I have found that it is not easy to get your license reinstated once it has been taken. If you have been paying for any amount of time, you may be able to negotiate with the DA to get your driver's license back, but they often ask for at least 2 months payment, and up to a years worth of payments in order to give you your license back. This is ok if you have the money, but if you are barely able to make any payments at all, this is not helpful at all. The best you can do in this case is to apply for a restricted license, and even then, you may or may not qualify.

Yes, making the consecutive payments you're supposed to will remove penalties. You may have to call the legal system to have the restrictions removed. Keep track of how much you have paid and when.

Laws differ from state to state regarding whether you can get your license reinstated after paying many back payments up front, or if you need to do it for nine pay periods, which could last for months. Regardless, start doing the responsible thing by making the payments as quickly as possible.

Falling behind on this type of support is unpleasant, but it should be one of your top bills to deal with when it's due. The legal ramifications are just too serious for failing to pay on time. In many states, having your license suspended is just the beginning. Courts can slap you with hefty financial penalties or even threaten prison time in some rare cases.

I recommend working with the system, rather than against it, on this issue. If you end up with a legitimate financial hardship, then you may see an attorney about having the payments temporarily adjusted. Otherwise, pay what you're supposed to, and you should stay out of trouble.

The rule in Maryland is that if you're 60 days overdue, you can get your license suspended.

But you can get it reinstated if you do two things -- first you have to pay the arrears in full, and second you have to make six (6) straight payments of the regular amount.

The only exception is if you can show them some sort of proof, by way of documentation, that you have a significant hardship situation, for example, due to the lack of your license, or the lack of funds.
