I live in nevada and the father of my child is in california. child support possible? I'm 17 years old and i was in california and raped. as a result of that i tried to press charges but it never went through. instead he was charged with sex with a minor. i was 16 and he was 21. i left california back to las vegas. i now have a daughter that is 2 months. i didn't believe in abortions and after i gave birth i couldn't bare to give her up for adoption. is it possible to file for child support? i know he has a job now and i'm working under the table. i haven't talked to him for almost 10 months now and i have don't know where he's working or where he's living. and how can i keep him from getting visitation rights? i'm afraid of him near our daughter because of what he did to me. |

Yes, you can file for child support. You can find the child support office for your county at this web site address https://dwss.nv.gov/index.php?option=com_content&t ask=view&id=123&Itemid=320 Call their number and ask how to start the process. If he disputes being the father, he may be required to submit DNA but once his parentage is established, the court will order support. Unless you can prove him an unfit parent or abusive, or if he has a record that is highly questionable, if he requests visitation he will probably get it. But you can express to the court that you are afraid for yourself and they may allow the baby to be dropped at a neutral location so you don't have to see him. Since he lives out of state, he may not even attempt to get visitation. Good luck and best wishes.
