Do i have to legally live with my mom at 17?

I will be 17 years old in just a few weeks. I'm currently living with my grandma because about 2 months ago my mom left state to go be with her husband. When she got there she would call me crying if not everyday than every other day over something her husbands done or said to her. Before my mom left state and i was living with her and her husband he took all the money.. including 5 of my child support checks. He sold my guitar and my electric keyboard. He said the money was for food but yet he never came back with anything. I later found out he had a habit he couldn't deal with. Than he went out of state and i was hoping my mom would get smart about this but she decided to move up there with him. Finally i had enough. I told her i did not want to go with her so she allowed me to stay with my grandma. Well now she's coming back to Texas in a month and she's bringing him with her. She's telling me i have to live with her again. I told her i was not going to live with her again because i couldn't deal with her husbands drug habits and him stealing my money. I also suspect him putting his hands on my mom. I'm not the type of teenager that wants to go out and move in with some random guy. I just want to stay here with my grandma where i think i am safest. I don't think i'm really safe with my mom and her husband. He has also been to prison a few times to. So my question is.. if i refuse to live with my mom is there anything she can do?

Before mom and the loser get back to Texas, you simply go to the department of children and family services, ask to speak to a caseworker because mom left you while she toured other states with her flavor of the month. Tell them the whole story and they'll make sure you stay with grandma while they have a "come to Jesus meeting" with your mom. Don't be surprised if mom isn't brought upon charges of neglect for what she did to you. You really should have contacted your father earlier so he could have at least contacted DCFS earlier. Let the pros handle this and make sure you tell them you would rather stay with grandma so she gets the support for you and not mom's loser boyfriend.
