The gender of the non-custodial parent makes no difference. Mothers who pay child support are bound by the same court orders, and consequence for not abiding by those orders, as fathers who pay child support.

If you've had a reduction in income, you need to file for a modification of support. That will not undo and make go away what you are currently behind on now, but can reduce the amount you'll pay from that point forward.

If you are having a hard time paying child support, you can file a petition asking the court to lower your child support payment, this will not help you on your back erarages, but if you current amount is decreased then you can pay toward your back erarages, also contact the child support services and see if they will work with you, where you can make a reasniable payment monthly, they would rather you contact them then avoid them.
