Child support and marring a Navy guy

My ex boyfriend and i (never been married) and we have a 4 year old son. He has recently got married and they have there own child. But i have moved on too, and have been with my current boyfriend for awhile that we are talking marriage. But he is in the Navy and if we get married i would have to move when he gets stationed. He is on child support but doesnt pay often, and could probably pass a drug test. I keep calling the visitation hotline and cant ever get through, just wanted to know what the guidelines are looking like or if it is even possible?

First off, just so you know, child support and visitation are not connected. So even if he isn't paying, he still has the right to see his child.

Secondly, if you want to move and your son's father has court ordered visitation, then you do need permission from the court to be able to move. Generally, they give little problem to someone who has a spouse in the military. You will need to file your intent with the court, offer a compromise on visitation and then go to court. If he agrees, there will be little issue. If he does not agree, it will be up to the judge. So if you do decide to get married, file your intents with the court so you can get approval to move when he gets orders. Good luck and best wishes.
