The time for trying to collect child support has been over for a very, very long time now that he's 19 years old. And if the child was legally adopted then he's no longer legally your child so the law has no expectation of you providing support for him anyway.

There are a few varable that can come into play in regards to any possible child support you may be liable for. For instance, each state has their own statute of limitations on collection of child support, California for example has no limit, one can collected indefinately. Some states only allow collection of support for a limited number of years past the childs age of majority.

Another factor that may play a part is if you have/had a court order to pay child support and/or if paternity has been established.

If you do find for certain that the child has been adopted however then any support obligations would have ceased.

I wish I had a simple answer for you but it's more complicated. Whatever the case is though, I hope that you decide to contact your child. Chances are that if you've not been contacted for child support up to this point then there is not an interest for it. Being that your childs mother has passed and you are the only surviving parent the child could be very interested in getting to know you for many reasons.
