Can my bank account be seized for child support in arrears in california? I owe arrears child support for my adult son.I was just awarded SSI backpay and child support put a lien on my account. What can I do about it? I was allready paying a garnishment for child support through my unemployment checks.Will I be able to get my money back> |

They will not take all of it. But they are going to take a chunk. This happens to my father every so often. (i am 24 and my sister is 21) but he owes arrears and they occasionally freeze his account take a portion and then give him the rest. It usually takes about a week or so. He has learned to immediatley withdraw his money and not leave it in the bank. Best bet have it deposited there then withdraw and put your money on a prepaid debit card.... that is MUCH harder for them to gain acess to. As a mother I should say though.... had you paid when he was younger and when you were supposed to... this would not happen. But as the girlfriend to a man who pays child support. i know thats not always easy!
