Can asssets be used to pay future child support payments of an incarcerated parent with assets ? My ex-husband was incarcerated approximately four years ago. When I informed the California Child Support Agency they went to court and had the child support order put in reserve. I informed the agency that he had assets, but they told me that assets could not be used to pay future child support. IS this true? I have found many cases in other states that consider assets when determining abilty to pay current child support order. I know that I will never see a dime from the reserved child support, but I don't want this to happen to another parent. |
