Can a father get his rights back to his child if he signed off?

The dad signed off rights to his child when she was 3 and now the little girl is 11. The dad was basically forced to sign off though! The mom is extremely crazy and use to beat him up and cheat on him so he got a divorce but paid child support and had visitations. So then he started a new family and had two other children and the psycho mom would have her junkie boyfriend threaten to beat him and his new family up and whenever he got to pick up his daughter the daughter would beat up the other children and threaten the guys new wife and so he tried to talk to the psycho mom about it but it just got worse so he signed off his rights. This little girl is 11 now and she has a very very sad life. I can't even begin to tell you the things this little girl has went through. Drugs, emotional and physical abuse, her mom constantly has her around her new junkie boyfriends and makes her call them dad and if the little girl talks about her real dad her mom abuses her! The dad and his wife have tried to ask the mom if they could see the little girl but she won't let them and the crazy mom lies to the little girl and tells her that her dad never loved her and etc :(

Words just can't express what this girl goes through what has happened to her is soonbad it would take hours to explain I just want to know what I can do to help her :( some of her aunts will even say that her mom is psycho and wrong but the grandparents are blinded by it and also allow it to happen.

Was the child adopted by them? Or did you simply give up your rights to see her? If the child was adopted, there is nothing that you can do about this except report them to child services and let them take it from there. If you simply gave up custody then you can file for custody based on the statements you have given here. Talk to a lawyer in that case as soon as possible.

Hi, Mooly, and welcome to WebAnswers.

Are you saying that the father had his parental rights terminated by a court of law, or was it some kind of "agreement" between the father and "pyscho mom"?

As Melaniem41 has pointed out, if he had his rights terminated by an actual court so that the child was adopted by Mr. Pscho Mom, then that is pretty final.

So, please provide some factual detail here so that we can best assist you.

Thank you for you question.

Well, that doesn't mean squat. He needs to find a decent family law attorney and get this thing straight.

If no adoption has happened, he needs to get a lawyer and try to get his child. Giving up visitation and custody is NOT permanent. He will have to jump through a lot of hoops to show he really wants to be in this child's life but if it's this bad hopefully he can make it better for her.
