In all States when the child turns 18 or 19 if still in high school child support payments are stopped unless there is a divorce decree stating otherwise making special agreed upon provisions for college, vocational school etc. You might have to get the clerk of court's office to call your HR office and inform them to stop payroll deductions; or they could notify them by mail; the key is make it from the court that ordered the support not from you.

I have an order from Ohio that they are trying to get California to enforce because of arrears. The arrears are $298 month, but the child is 25 and is has been lving in state facilites since 2001 because he has been a threat to everyone. That is how my present husband lost his job because my son went after a woman who was jogging around the complex and started yelling at her and throwing stones and rocks. It was reported to the office and of course that ended my husbands employment. My original order was done in NJ that stated that my ex husband didn't want support but before the divorce was final he kidnapped my child and I was not able to find him until my ex wound up with brain tumor and they called my mom looking for me. I flew to Ohio several days later with my mom to pick up my son. I got an order that stopped my support during that time. When he was placed into a facility an orderwas given that showed that no one was to pay support as he was now in state custody as he was being treated like an adult, due to the attempted murder charge of against my ex husband. However now my ex wants money and has submitted the order stating he is 15 when he is 25 and wants money. I want to know what I can do to stop this once and for all.

Child supportstops at the age of 18 in california, but the child support service has to be contacted or the court, you have done this so the child support order should be stopped, you may have to contact a lawyer if they refuse to except the courts decition. If you do not have a lawyer contact legal aide, you ned to know also that if you owe any back erarages for child support then the child support services will continue to take out child support for the back erarages but cannot take any child support out for any current child support order that has been stopped.

I lived in California and child support ends when the child turns the age of 18 unless the child is still in high school, if the child is in high school the parent paying recieving child support is required by law to contact the child support services and tell them the child is in school and the child support services will send a letter for the school to fill out stating the childs name if the child is a full time student and when the child is exspected to graduate, if the child turns 19 before graduation child support stops. Now with this being said if the human resourses does not except the courts order you should contact a lawyer, the human resourses knows how the court system works, if you are the father and owe any back child support because the mother was on state benefits then they can continue to have your checks garnished, the order from the court would be to stop any current child support order due to the child being 18 and out of school, there is a difference in current child support and back erarages if this is the case if not contact a lawyer.
