If you did not pay the amount of money outlined by the court, there is little that you can do about it. The money is owed but I would speak with them about removing the interest rate since it was their fault they entered it wrong. You will still owe the arrears but they should be willing to set up a payment plan so you can pay the custodial parent what they were owed. Buying your daughter a car was a great thing but the child support is not money for her personal use. It was money owed to the other parent to assist them in the cost of feeding, clothing, school supplies and housing your child. If they are unwilling to work with you, then you need to contact a lawyer. Good luck and best wishes.

When you say that you bought her a new car, did you buy the car free and clear, or are you making payments? If you bought a car free and clear, you should have enough money not to worry about some additional interest. I am sure they or the court can set up payments that can factor in the child support enforcement's mistake. If there was a child support order in effect and you did not pay the entire amount, you are still on the hook for the difference + interest.
