Any relief for dads divorced as a tax write off

My Question, i pay my child child support i also pay for my childrens health and dental insurance. i was wondering is there any tax relief for myself. custody is with there mother. my child support is appx. 50% of my income. not including the insurance taken out of my paycheck.

You can certainly deduct the insurance costs for your children. One thing that should be covered in your parenting agreement is agreeing to which years you each can take a tax deduction.

You have no tax break because of child support. You can deduct cost of insurance/medical if you itemize your deductions. Most judges order a split in claiming the children - one parnts claims during even years, the other during odd years.
