If my wife and I divorce do I have to pay child support for the 2 children that she had from a previous relationship. I was married to my wife for less than a year before we separated. We have been separated for over two years. My wife is contesting my divorce because she wants me to pay child support for her 2 children that she had from a previous relationship. I already pay child support for my own biological children and I don't think it's fair that I pay child support for children that are not mine. Shouldn't their biological father be responsible? I did not adopt them nor did I request that their real dad relinquish his paternal rights. What do Texas child support laws say about this? |

I don't think that you should have to pay child support for someone else's kids, either, but it comes down to what you can prove in court. Great expense and hassle, and there's nothing that says that a judge couldn't grant her alimony payments, instead. If she's not working, and she's pushing the matter, you should talk to a lawyer.
